Bhubaneswar: Amid speculation about change of guard in Odisha Congress, senior leader and Jatani MLA Suresh Routray on Saturday gave an explosive statement on the decision taken in the party over the appointment of the Pradesh Congress Committee president.
“Be it appointment of PCC president or Congress’ state in-charge, every decision happens as per BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s wish,” he told the media.
The Odisha Congress will get its new president by May 7, he added.
BJD leader Debashis Samantray brushed aside Routray’s version, saying, “This is ridiculous. Congress is a national party while we are a regional party. Our direct fight is with Congress. We are thinking about our organisation and how to strengthen it for the 2024 elections.”
Notably, former PCC chief Jayadev Jena had earlier alleged that he was removed from the post because of Naveen. It is also a known fact that the Odisha CM shares a cordial relationship with the Congress leaders in Delhi.
