Baripada: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik distributed the smart cards of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) among beneficiaries of Mayurbhanj district on Friday.
As per schedule, the chief minister arrived at a temporary helipad in the town in the morning and proceeded to Sahid Smruti Bhawan where he handed over the smart health cards to some beneficiaries.
The district administration will distribute the smart cards in 26 blocks and 4 civic bodies subsequently. Mayurbhanj is the seventh district in Odisha where Naveen distributed the cards.
Later, the chief minister laid foundation stone and inaugurated various projects worth around Rs 2481 crore.
The state government has decided to provide the smart health cards to 3.5 crore people of 96 lakh families. Each family can avail treatment cost upto Rs 5 lakh per annum while women members can avail the benefit upto Rs 10 lakh.
The chief minister had announced on Independence Day to launch the smart cards to ensure that people can get treatment in 200 hospitals across the country.
