Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday launched smart health cards of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) in Keonjhar district on virtual mode from here.
The local administration will distribute the smart health cards among around 4.19 lakh people of the district. With this, the BSKY health cards have been distributed in 13 districts of the state.
The chief minister also laid the foundation stones of various development projects worth around Rs 1433 crore on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, he said pipe water supply will be provided to all families in the district by 2022. A mega poultry project will also be launched to improve the income sources of the tribal population of Mayurbhanj, he added.
It may be noted that the chief minister had announced that the government would launch the smart health card facility at the last Independence Day function.
The health cards under BSKY will be provided to 3.5 crore people of 96 lakh families in the state. Each family can avail treatment cost upto Rs 5 lakh per annum and women members upto Rs 10 lakh. The card holders can avail treatment at 200 hospitals across the country.
Odisha is the first state in the country to have launched the scheme in the health sector. The cards will be provided to the beneficiaries of the schemes of national and state food security, Annapurna and Antodaya.
