Bhubaneswar: In what can be termed as a formality, the newly-elected legislators of BJD chose party president Naveen Patnaik as the leader of legislature party at a meeting held at the party office here on Sunday.
After being elected as the party leader, Naveen met Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal to stake claim to form the new government under his leadership.
The BJD has won 112 seats in 147-seat Assembly in the recently concluded polls.
Naveen will take the oath as the Chief Minister of Odisha for the fifth consecutive term at IDCO Exhibition Ground on May 29.
Meanwhile, Odisha DGP RP Sharma reviewed security arrangements at the ground for the swearing-in ceremony. Twin City Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty was also present.
