Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday felicitated Odisha’s ace shooter Shriyanka Sarangi and para-athlete Jayanti Behera for achievements in their respective disciplines.
Naveen highly appreciated the efforts of the two sportspersons for achieving success and bringing laurels to the state. Stating that they have made the state proud in international sports, he wished them to scale new heights in future.
The chief minister also presented cash award of Rs 2 lakh to Shriyanka and Rs 15 lakh to Jayanti at the felicitation in Naveen Niwas, here. Secretary (5T) to chief minister VK Pandian and secretary, Sports and Youth Services, R Vineel Krishna were present.
Shriyanka had won bronze medal in 50 metre rifle 3 positions mixed team event at ISSF World Cup 2022, held in Cairo, Egypt last month. She is the national reigning champion in shooting. She had bagged gold medal at 64th National Shooting Championship held in Bhopal in December last year.
Jayanti had bagged silver medal in 200m and bronze in 400m and 100m race in 2022 World Para Athletics Grand Prix held at Dubai this month.
