Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the renovation of the Bindusagar tank near the Lingaraj temple in the city on Saturday.
Launching the Swachh Bindusagar Prakalp in a virtual function, the Chief Minister said that the historic tank, one of the major pilgrimage destinations in the country, is innately associated with the rituals of Lord Lingaraj.
Stating that the Bindusagar is a symbol of national integration, he sought the collective efforts of the people to maintain its sanctity.
Pointing out that the state government has taken up the Ekamra Kshetra Yojana under 5T initiative, Naveen stressed that the renovation of the remaining ponds and tanks in Ekamra Kshetra will also be taken up.
He thanked Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) for their cooperation.
Among others, Science & Technology, Public Enterprises, Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disability Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, Steel & Mines and Works Minister Prafulla Mallick and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi were present on the occasion.
As per an MoU signed between Odisha Bridge Construction Corporation (OBCC), on behalf of the state government and the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Indian Oil Odisha Campus (ICT-IOC), the project will be carried out at an estimated cost of Rs 70 lakh under CSR programme of the IOCL.
