Puri: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday maintained that the KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) scheme will be a milestone in the economy of Odisha.
Launching the scheme at a meeting of about two lakh farmers of 314 blocks at Rahangia near Malatipatpur in Puri, he said the state government launched the scheme to provide financial assistance to small and marginal farmers, sharecroppers and agriculture labourers for Kharif and Rabi crops for three years.
Apart from the financial assistance, the state government will provide Rs 5,000 to each of the aforesaid category of farmers on Akshaya Trutiya for Kharif crop and on Nuakhai for Rabi crop, he further said.
Stating that the money provided by the state government will be credited to the bank account of these farmers, the Chief Minister claimed that no one can stop the KALIA scheme.
“The scheme, which will benefit 92 per cent of the farmers, has been widely appreciated by the neighbouring states,” he pointed out.
Announcing the transfer of money to the account of the farmers, the Chief Minister highlighted the following procedures.
1. Rs 5,000 will be credited to the bank account of 12,45,490 beneficiaries through direct benefit transfer (DBT) in the first phase.
2. The list of eligible beneficiaries will be displayed in each panchayat office.
3. The farmers can check the beneficiary list at the panchayat office and lodge complaint if they have any grievances.
4. About 65 lakh farmers have applied for inclusion in the beneficiary list in the first phase.
5. The farmers, who have been excluded from the beneficiary list in the first phase for not providing detailed information, can also apply again in the second phase with the required details.
