Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday handed over 1,722 pucca houses to the slum dwellers in three housing complexes in Bhubaneswar.
The houses have been built under the state government’s “Saharanchal Awas Yojana” (urban housing scheme) in the three complexes of Keshari Residency in Satya Nagar, Buddha Vihar in Chandrasekharpur and Barunei Enclave in Subudhipur.
The houses in Buddha Vihar of Chandrasekharpur have been constructed under Affordable Housing Project (AHP) in 12 acre of land. The CM inaugurated a 5-storey building and handed over 820 houses in the project to the beneficiaries. Total 2,600 houses will be constructed under the project.
In Shantipalli of Satya Nagar, 560 houses, built under In-Situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR), were handed over to the owners. Total 1,300 houses will be built here.
Similarly, in Subudhipur under Affordable Housing Project (AHP), 342 houses were handed over to the slum-dwellers.
While the Keshari Residency has been built for the residents of Shantipalli, Barunei Enclave is meant for those of Tarini Basti slum.
The government targets to construct around 7,000 pucca houses under the Saharanchal Awas Yojana. Of those, about 1,700 houses have already been constructed.
Each house in these projects has a bedroom, a hall, a kitchen and a bathroom.
