Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated 343 transformed schools under 5T initiative of Odisha government.
The schools that have undergone transformation are located in 5 districts of the state including Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Bhadrak and Sundargarh. As many as 73 schools have been transformed in Kalahandi, 46 in Kandhamal, 82 in Koraput, 60 in Bhadrak and 82 in Sundargarh district.
Inaugurating the transformed schools on fifth day of the 4th phase of the transformation programme on digital mode, the chief minister said Odisha is witnessing a time of transformation. From schools to colleges, hospitals, tourist places, mutts, temples, panchayats and villages are being covered under the programme, he added.
Addressing the students, Naveen said the refurbished schools have all facilities to offer a bright future for them. Smart classrooms, modern laboratory, computer education, basic facilities have been included in the transformation programme to offer a conducive atmosphere for education to the children.
Since the schools determine the character of a race, he said the government has given top priority to this sector under its transformation programme. “I believe that today’s children will be responsible citizens of a new and strong Odisha in future,” he said.
Detailing the benefits of 5T, Naveen advised the students to utilise those for their better future. Besides, a provision of 15% reservation for the students of government schools has been made in medical and engineering colleges, he added.
Chairman of 5T and Nabin Odisha VK Pandian, Kandhamal MP Achyuta Samanta, Kalahandi MLA Dibya Shankar Mishra, Koraput MLA Raghuram Padal and Bhadrak MLA Prafulla Samal also spoke on the occasion.
It may be noted that 6,883 schools have already been transformed in the last 3 phases of the programme. The government targets to cover total 1,794 schools in the 4th phase.
