Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated Ayub Khan Multi-Speciality Hospital at Kantabanji in Balangir district.
The hospital, which will also cater to the healthcare needs of Titlagbarh, has been named after well-known leader and social activist of the area Ayub Khan.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said the medical services sector has undergone a major transformation in Odisha in the last 10 years. “Due to various welfare schemes of the state government including Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, establishment of new medical colleges and hospitals, the poor people can now avail health services at free of cost,” he said while inaugurating the hospital through video-conferencing.
With Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital starting operation, 8 medical colleges have been set up in the state thereby improving the health services. With more than 2,000 doctors being produced every year, all the doctor posts in government hospitals will be filled up by the end of this year, Naveen said.
