Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated 5 high voltage grid sub-stations in 4 districts of Odisha.
According to a release from chief minister’s office (CMO), the grid sub-stations have been set up with an estimated cost of Rs 254 crore. Those are located at Hinjilikatu in Ganjam district, Kalimela in Malkangiri, Birmaharajpur in Subarnapur and Godisahi and Bahugram in Cuttack district. More than 2 lakh people are expected to get the benefit of uninterrupted power supply in these districts.
Inaugurating the sub-stations through video-conferencing, the chief minister appealed to the consumers not to misuse the power supply which is essential for essential for agriculture and industry sectors and improving the lifestyle of the people.
As per reports, Odisha now has 185 extra high voltage grid sub-stations and 16,000 km of circuit network of power lines.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Pratap Deb said since Odisha has become a power surplus state in the country, the government has been striving to improve industrialisation and employment opportunities.
Odisha Coal and Power Ltd donated Rs 20 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund on the occasion. The company preseted a cheque of the amount to Deb and chief secretary in the presence of the chief minister.
