Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday inaugurated projects worth Rs 488 crore in Padmapur Assembly constituency of Bargarh district.
The projects included 20 lift irrigation projects of Rs 10 crore and an infrastructure project of Rs 18.48 crore for development of marketing the farm products. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said Padmapur is the rice bowl of Odisha for producing highest quantity of paddy. The two projects would further give a boost to the farming activities in the area, he added.
He said he was aware that many farmers of the constituency have not received the crop insurance so far. Stating that Prime Minister Crop Insurance was a Central government scheme, he assured the farmers of taking up the issue with the Centre soon.
In order to facilitate communication in the area, the Chief Minister also laid foundation stone for construction of 38 bridges with a budget of Rs 260 crore, 25 roads with Rs 136 crore, rural infrastructure with Rs 9 crore, 4 rural markets with Rs 60 lakh and 16 projects for urban areas with Rs 4.22 crore.
Naveen said the government would spend Rs 26 crore for development of Nrusinghnath shrine which would contribute to economic prosperity in Padmapur.
He also inaugurated projects worth Rs 30 crore in 3 blocks and urban areas. Those included 20 Kalyan Mandaps, Panchayat Bhavan, village market and common facility centre.
Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari, Labour Minister Srikant Sahu, Textile and Handicraft Minister Rita Sahu, MLAs Sushant Singh, Debesh Acharya and Snehangini Chhuria were present on the occasion.
