Naveen Inaugurates Tribal Sports Meet In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the
first-of-its kind tribal sports meet in the country through
videoconferencing at the state secretariat here on Monday.

“Odisha has 62 types of tribal communities. For promotion of
sportsmanship among them and popularization of traditional sports and
games, the event is being organised by the government for the first
time in Odisha”, the Chief Minister said.

The sports meet will be held in 119-tribal populated blocks of the
state in Under 14, Under 16 and above 17 categories, Naveen added.

A cash prize of Rs 3, 61, 200 will be given to the successful players
in each district, while a total amount of Rs 5, 55, 600 has been
sanctioned for giving prizes to successful players in state-level,
official sources said.
