Bargarh: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, it seems is keen to keep his promise to Bijepur, the assembly seat in Bargarh district which he won and later vacated on June 2. An Industrial Training Institute (ITI) has been sanctioned for Bijepur block to strengthen technical education and facilitate skill-training needs of local youths.
A notification in this regard was issued on August 1 by the Skill Development and Technical Education Department.
“With a view to strengthen ITI training facilities at the biock level and to facilitate skill training need of local youth, Government have been pleased to sanction establishment of one Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Bijepur Block in Bargarh District under the craftsman Training pattern out of State plan budgetary allocation,” the notification said.
Three days before vacating the seat, the Chief Minister on May 30 had announced Rs 1,330 crore package for Bijepur, which included setting up the government ITI at Bijepur along with two skill development centres at Gaisilet and Barpali blocks, respectively.
Speculation is rife that the announcement was made keeping in view the upcoming by-election in Bijepur.
