Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday launched two schemes for nutrition enchancement of pregnant women, adolescent girls and children.
Launching “Mukhyamantri Sampoornna Pushti Yojana” (MSPY) and “Pada Pushti Karyakram “(PPK) at a function in Bhubaneswar, the chief minister said nutrition of citizens and progress of the state are deeply connected. Mothers play a pivotal role in this regard, he added.
“If we can ensure nutrition to mothers, they can improve the health condition of their families. The success of the two schemes depend on Anganwadi workers and members of Mission Shakti will be assigned the responsibility of the responsibility.
The MSPY aims at providing nutritious dry food to pregnant women, post-natal women and girls of 15 to 19 years. Nutritious food for children having extreme nutrition deficiency and vitamin enforced Chhatua (cereal) and eggs will be supplied to moderately deficient and underweight children.
Under PPK, nutritious cooked food will be supplied to tribal children living in remote and inaccessible areas of the state.
Minister Basanti Hembram, development commissioner Anu Garg, secretary Subha Sharma and 5(T) secretary VK Pandian were present at the function.
