Naveen Launches ‘Ama Odisha Ama Nabin’ Scheme In Kalahandi & Nabarangpur

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday launched “Ama Odisha Ama Nabin” in two more districts -Kalahandi and Nabarangpur – on the ninth day of the launch of the scheme.

Under the scheme, each panchayat of a district will get Rs 50 lakh for development of infrastructure. Five Assembly constituencies of Kalahandi district have been granted Rs 155 crore. The constituencies are Junagarh, Lanjigarh, Narla, Dharamgarh and Bhawanipatna. Total 4,678 projects will be implemented in 310 panchayats under 13 blocks of the district with the sanctioned fund.

Similarly, Rs 94.5 crore has been sanctioned for 4 constituencies in Nabarangpur. Those are Dabugaon, Nabarangpur, Umerkot and Jharigaon. As many as 2,942 projects will be taken up in 189 panchayats under 10 blocks in the disrict.

Launching the scheme through video-conference from Bhubaneswar, the chief minister said besides development of villages and panchayats, the scheme aims at promotion, preservation and protection of the Jagannath culture and tradition of the state.

Noting that Odisha has always been rooted in its tradition, culture and history, he said Odisha is the land that gave Jagannath culture to the world. It propagates universal love, service and equality. It is based on inclusiveness and embraces everyone irrespective of caste and community.

“Development of digital infrastructure is one of the objectives of the scheme. Internet connectivity, skill development centre, works hub and banking facilities are its other features. It will also open up vast opportunities for youths, women and farmers in rural areas,” Naveen said.

The scheme was launched on October 10 with a budget provision of Rs 3397 crore. Total 90,723 projects will be implemented in 6794 panchayats across the state and an amount of Rs 10 lakh will be allocated for every village as part of the scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, chairman of 5T and Nabin Odisha VK Pandian said the chief minister has announced 5 gifts for women. Those are daily meal at Rs 5, financial assistance of Rs 5,000 to every pregnant woman, travelling in buses under LAccMI scheme at Rs 5, loan amounting to Rs 5 lakh to each Mission Shakti and additional treatment cost of Rs 5 lakh under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana.
