Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday launched health infrastructure projects worth Rs 1,140 crore in Odisha.
The chief minister inaugurated 103 projects in health sector worth Rs 140 crore and laid foundation stone for 372 projects that would be implemented with a budget of Rs 1,000 crore.
Launching the projects through vide-conference, Naveen said the government hospitals have been able to gain the people’s trust after their transformation under 5T initiatives.
Stating that the government’s Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) has turned a blessing for the people, he said at least 1 lakh patients are getting medical treatment under the scheme every month. “It reflects our commitment to ensure quality health services to the people and make Odisha a role model in the sector,” he added.
He further said the government aims at strengthening health services at all facilities including PHCs, CHCs and DHHs. In the efforts towards this, around Rs 12,000 crore has been spent for infrastructure development in the last 5 years, he added.
The chief minister launched a special helpline number 1800 120 120 104 for the Odia people, who stay outside the state and want to avail BSKY services, on the occasion.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Niranjan Pujari also spoke at the event which was coordinated by Nabin Odisha and 5T chairman VK Pandian. Development Commissioner Anu Garg, secretary of Health and Family Welfate department Shalini Pandit and senior officers were present on the occasion.
