Bhubaneswar: With Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik scheduled to be on foreign trip on July 2 when Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari will present the full-fledged budget for 2022-23 financial year in the Assembly, he is likely to attend it virtually.
The chief minister is scheduled to leave Odisha capital on June 28 on overseas tour. He will first go to Rome and then to UAE to attend several programmes. He is likely to meet Pope Francis, the Pope of Rome and Head of Catholic Church in Vatican City.
While in Rome, he is likely to join the budget presentation by the Finance Minister on virtual mode on July 2.
The state government had presented a budget of Rs 2 lakh crore and sought vote-on-account of Rs 1.06 crore for the first four months of the financial year on March 30 in view of the model code of conduct due to the panchayat and urban local body elections.
According to official sources, several aspects of the budget have been reworked and allocations are likely to undergo changes. The outlays for some key sectors including agriculture and allied sectors, infrastructure, education and skills and health sectors are likely to go up. The allocation for these sectors was Rs 20,344 crore in the interim budget.
The monsoon session of the Assembly will begin on July 2 and continue till August 4 with 24 working days. Following is the schedule of the session:
