Bhubaneswar/Bengaluru: Hours before the last curtain raiser event to the ‘Make in Odisha’ conclave, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who is on a three-day Bengaluru visit, on Wednesday met almost 20 industry captains and discussed investment opportunities in the state.
The CM had one-on-one interactions with MD-CEO of Wipro-GE Healthcare Dr Shravan Subramanyam, Managing Partner of IBM Amit Sharma and president of Concentrix Girish Menon, Page Industries CEO VG Ganes, Jitendra Chadha of Global Foundry, P Satyanarayan of TTK Prestige Ltd, Rajneesh Kumar of Flipkart, Gautam Sharma of Indo Nissan Foods Pvt Ltd and Gourav Taneja of Ernest and Young, among others. He discussed their plans for Odisha and personally invited them to the mega-industry carnival slated from November 30 to December 4 in the state.
Major business-centric reforms taken up by the state government were also highlighted during the meeting.
According to sources, IBM, Accenture, Concentrix, Happiest Mind, E&Y all will open development centres in Odisha soon Flipkart will engage directly with the government in tourism, logistics and handicrafts and sign an MoU.
On Tuesday, the chief minister also had one-on-one meetings with potential investors across sectors like food-processing, aerospace and defence, and healthcare to discuss the possibilities of investing in Odisha and cater to the growing need for newer products and services in eastern and North-East India. Major business-centric reforms taken up by the state government were highlighted during the meeting.
One of the noted participants in the Government-to-Business (G2B) meetings with the chief minister was Azim Premji, former chairman of Wipro Limited. The government is looking at potential investors in information technology (IT), IT-enabled services (ITeS), electronics, data centres, e-vehicle, pharma and aerospace sectors, the sources added.
Over 500 industrialists, business persons and investors across sectors are expected to attend the Odisha Investors’ Meet at Hotel Taj West End later this evening.
Earlier this month, Naveen attended an investors’ meet in Mumbai and interacted with industrialists like K M Birla, Anil Agarwal and Anand Mahindra, top bankers and financial wizards. On August 31, he attended the curtain-raiser of the third edition of the biennial event, in Delhi, and held discussions pertaining to investment in Odisha with envoys of different countries. This was the third investment roadshow after Dubai and Ahmedabad.
