Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday appointed new presidents of the party units for six districts in an apparent bid to strengthen the organisation ahead of the next elections.
Naveen also appointed working presidents of the party for three districts with immediate effect, a press release issued by BJD organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das said.
While senior leader Nrusingha Charan Sahu has been appointed as the district president of BJD in Dhenkanal, Aswini Kumar Patra has been made Balasore district unit president.
Similarly, Jhina Hikaka has been appointed as the BJD district president in Koraput. Prabhas Kumar Singh, Halu Mundari and Rabi Singh have been made presidents of Bargarh, Rourkela and Jharsuguda district units respectively.
Likewise, Debi Prasad Bhutia, Prasanta Gupta and Sushant Mohapatra (Japani) have been appointed working presidents of the party units in Dhenkanal, Koraput and Bargarh respectively.
