Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday expelled Sasmita Majhi, Zilla Parishad Member, Zone 3 of Mathili block, in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.
According to an office order issued by state senior media coordinator Pratap Jena, Majhi has been expelled from the party with immediate effect for anti-people activities.
This came a day after a man was arrested for allegedly duping job aspirants of huge amount of money by impersonating V K Pandian’s brother-in-law in the district. Sasmita was also named as an accused in the FIR lodged at Mathili police station in Malkangiri.
In another development, Jajpur’s Bari block chairman Ashok Gedi, sarpanches and other grassroots leaders and workers have quit BJP and returned to the regional party.
