Bhubaneswar: Amid high-voltage electioneering in Odisha, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik held a massive roadshow in Bhubaneswar on Thursday evening and sought people’s support for party candidates.
A large number of people lined up on both sides of the road to witness the mega roadshow after it began from Ganganagar Chhak in the capital city amid tight security and heavy force deployment.
The CM, who moved in a customised vehicle, highlighted the free electricity promise made in BJD manifesto for the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state. Stating that people would not get electricity bill from July this year, he sought support for party nominees.
Naveen was seen waving at people and greeting them as the roadshow passed through the LIC Office, Gopabandhu Chhak, DAV School Unit-8, and HDFC Bank Square.
Moving in a specially designed vehicle, the CM stopped at a few places and addressed the people holding BJD’s conch symbol in both hands. Thanking the people for their overwhelming response, Naveen urged them to vote for conch symbol and support BJD’s MP as well as MLA candidates.
The roadshow also passed through Balunkeswar temple Square, Mamtaj Ali School, Srikrishna Club, Behera Sahi Square, Bayababa Mutt Chhak, Rupali Square, Ram Mandir Square, Master Canteen Square before culminating at Sisubhawan Square.
There were restrictions on vehicular movement along this stretch during the massive roadshow.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president J P Nadda have also conducted roadshows in the city as a part of the party’s poll blitzkrieg in the state.
