Bhubaneswar: The state government has sanctioned funds for construction of a new building of Utkal Balashram (orphanage) in Odisha’s Cuttack city.
Speaking at a function organised on the occasion of the 12th foundation day of Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) through digital mode on Tuesday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced sanction of Rs 3.82 crore for construction of Utkal Balashram building.
“Children are the future of our society. They represent our collective hopes and aspirations. Smiling children paint our society in multitude of colours and depict its vitality. Our endeavour should be directed at only goal of bringing smile on the face of every child,” he said.
“My government has been making sincere efforts for the wellbeing of children. We have put in place various programmes under the Women and Child Developments Department. We are striving to create an atmosphere where every child grows up to his or her full potential,” he added.
Stating that the Commission is working sincerely to enforce laws aimed at protecting the rights of children, he said it has been making consistent efforts to create awareness in society.
