Bhubaneswar: The once recluse, BJD president and chief minister Naveen Patnaik is creating ripples on social media platforms with his followers on the microblogging site Twitter crossing five lakh.
On Monday, Naveen tweeted: Celebrated #RakshaBandhan with sisters from across state. Our resolve for #Odisha with empowered women, gets reaffirmed on such occasions.
The BJD supremo had joined the microblogging site on September 9, 2015 with @Naveen_Odisha handle and his first tweet was “Jai Jagannath…”.
Naveen has the highest number of followers among politicians in Odisha followed by his party’s Kendrapada MP Baijayant Panda, who had joined Twitter on July 07, 2011, with 2.70 lakh.
The chief minister had been using the microblogging site to connect with people, especially during launching of various socio-welfare schemes. He was also seen congratulating Odia achievers in different fields. On Sunday, the chief minister congratulated Odia para-athlete Jayanti Behera on clinching Gold for India in the 400mts event at the World Junior Para Athletic Championships held at Nottwil, Switzerland.
He regularly follow 14 people, including Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, business leader Subroto Bagchi and telecom engineer Sam Pitroda.
After Facebook and Twitter, Naveen recently joined Instagram and even posted a picture on the app.
