Phulbani: A Naxal cadre has allegedly threatened the chief of an ashram in Kandhamal district of killing him and blowing up his ashram.
In a complaint filed at Tumudibandh police station on Saturday, Swami Jivan Muktananda Puri of Jalespata ashram has stated that he received a phone call from a person who identified himself as a Naxal at around 5 pm. The caller said he would kill the Swami and blow up his ashram in four days.
Later, IIC Babashankar Saraf of the police station visited the ashram and assured the inmates of the ashram of providing security.
It may be noted that Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati had received a similar threat in 2008. He along with his four disciples was shot dead on the premises of Swami a week after.
