NCB Summon To Deepika Padukone On Sept 25 ‘A Ploy To Distract From Farmers Protest’: Twitterati

Mumbai: Twitter users are smelling a rat in the summon issued by the Narcotics Control (NCB) for Deepika Padukone on September 25. They are pretty sure the actress is being made a scapegoat to distract the nation from the nationwide farmers’ protest on the same day.

It may be recalled that Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, and Rakul Preet Singh were summoned by Narcotics Control (NCB) on Wednesday in a Bollywood-drug nexus case.

Deepika Padukone has been summoned on September 25 while Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan have to appear on September 26.

Deepika Padukone’s name cropping up in drug-related chats has left her fans stunned.

A section of Twitterati accused the government of using the ‘Padmavat’ star as a distraction from major issues. It also blamed the mainstream media saying they are sure of shifting their focus on Deepika rather than the farmers’ protest.

Here is how a section of Twitter users reacted to the news.

One user said, “Since Deepika Padukone is being summoned by NCB on September 25, I really think the all India farmers protest, scheduled on the same day should be rescheduled. We know what visual media will do. Block out stories of millions.”
