New Delhi: It’s a neck to neck fight between the BJP and the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for the top spot in Bihar.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has maintained an edge over the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-led Mahagathbandhan, winning four seats and leading in 121 others, CNBC TV18 reported.
The RJD, leading the opposition five-party alliance, has won two seats, and along with allies, is leading in 106 others, according to the Election Commission website.
According to EC officials, over 1 crore votes were counted till around 1.30 pm out of nearly 4.16 crore votes polled in the three-phase elections. Out of nearly 7.3 crore voters, 57.09 percent had cast votes in the polls
Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United (JDU) is trailing in a majority of the seats.
The solo contest of Lok Janshakti Party’s Chirag Paswan appears to have benefitted the BJP. The race is extremely tight in 18 seats, with the margin of lead being less than 1,000 votes, the Election Commission said.
