Bhubaneswar: As many as 2,975 children remain missing in different parts of Odisha, the State Assembly was informed on Saturday.
Sharing official data in the House, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said 11,337 cases of missing children have been registered across the state from January 2024 to date.
While 8,36
2 children have been traced and rescued, the rest 2,975 remain missing and efforts are on to locate and rescue these minors.
The state government is prioritising coordinated action involving police, Child Welfare Committees and community networks to ensure safe recovery.
As per district-wise data presented in the House, Khurda has recorded the highest number of missing children cases, with 785 complaints, of which 576 children have been traced so far. Balasore followed closely with 683 cases. As many as 114 of these missing children have been rescued, raising concerns over the district’s low recovery rate.
Gajapati district, on the other hand, registered 659 missing children cases, while 715 have been traced.
