New Delhi: In a significant development in its probe into the NEET paper leak case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday filed its first chargesheet.
A total of 13 accused persons have been named in the chargesheet.
They are — Nitish Kumar, Amit Anand, Sikander Yadvendu, Ashutosh Kumar 1, Roshan Kumar, Manish Prakash, Ashutosh Kumar 2, Akhilesh Kumar, Avdesh Kumar, Anurag Yadav, Abhishek Kumar, Shivnandan Kumar and Ayush Raj.
The charges against include sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 201 (destruction of evidence), 409 (criminal breach of trust), 380 (theft), 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property), 420 (cheating), and 109 (abetment) of BNS.
The CBI, which was handed over the case on June 23, has conducted searches at 58 locations. Forty people have been arrested, including 15 by Bihar Police.
The CBI has employed advanced forensic techniques, artificial intelligence, CCTV footage analysis, and tower location data in its investigation thus far.
As the investigation continues, supplementary chargesheets are likely to be filed as more evidence comes to light.
