Balasore: Following in the footsteps of Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) for collection of arrears from defaulters, North Eastern Electricity Supply Company of Odisha Limited (NESCO) has decided to start a disconnection drive from February 18.
According to NESCO officials, the current arrears amount to Rs 1500 crore.
The officials said the power distribution company will send notices to domestic and commercial consumers on Sunday, asking them to deposit their arrears within 15 days. Failing this, NESCO will disconnect power supply to the defaulters from February 18.
Incorporated in November 19, 1997, NESCO had taken over the distribution and retail supply of electricity in the north-eastern zone comprising Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur and Bhadrak districts from Grid Corporation of Odisha (GRIDCO).
