Netaji Bus Terminal In Odisha’s Cuttack To Be Inaugurated On Sept 16

Bhubaneswar: The newly-constructed Cuttack Netaji Bus Terminal (CNBT) at Khannagar on the banks of the Kathajodi in Odisha’s millennium city would be made operational on September 16.

“Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is likely to dedicate the new bus terminal to people,” Cuttack Mayor Subash Singh said on Thursday.

He further said that the trial run will be conducted at the new bus terminal from September 13 and it will become fully functional after formal inauguration by the Chief Minister.

The 15-acre facility with three-storey terminus over two acre and dedicated bus bays has built by Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation Limited (OBCC) at an estimated cost of Rs 84 crore and can accommodate 190 buses at a time. The terminus has a separate route and space allocated for local and Mo Bus services. There are dedicated entry and exit gates for smooth flow of inter-district and long-route buses. To prevent waterlogging, two channels have been constructed for water to drain out of the bus terminus in case of heavy rainfall, sources said.

The CM had laid the foundation for Netaji Bus Terminal on the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on January 23, 2021.

According to sources, the terminal has been equipped with all modern facilities including bus bays and designated parking place for hassle-free movement of passengers.

The state government has recently announced that the first state-of-the-art Aahaar (cheap meal) centre will come up at the new Bus Terminal.

The Aahaar centre will have all facilities to accommodate around 1,000 people at a time. The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) is spending spend Rs 1.8 crore for the purpose, sources added.
