Netflix Tests Rs 250 Mobile-Only Plan In India

Bhubaneswar: Netflix, the world’s biggest on-demand streaming platform, is testing a new, cheaper subscription plan in India. For Rs 250 a month, this plan will work only on mobile phones and tablet computers.

This plan is limited in terms of video quality, that is, Standard Definition (SD) only. The cheapest plan till now was Rs 500 a month. The plan, which was introduced in Malaysia last year, is being rolled out to Indian users in phases.

Netflix is still the most expensive OTT service in India. Hotstar, India’s most popular service, costs Rs 365 a year, while Amazon Prime costs Rs 1000 per year.

Local services such as ZEE5 costs Rs 1188 a year and Ekta Kapoor’s AltBalaji is priced at Rs 100 for 3 months.
