Mumbai: Netflix has reportedly acquired the rights the upcoming superhero movie that will star Katrina Kaif in the lead role.
To be made in two parts, the film will show Katrina Kaif doing her actions chops yet again. The audience still has not forgotten her action scenes from Dhoom 3.
The film will be helmed by her director friend Ali Abbas Zafar, who earlier made films like Tiger Zinda Hai and Sultan. Since Netflix has acquired the rights, it will now reportedly be produced and released as a Netflix film instead. However, neither Ali Abbas Zafar nor Katrina kaif has confirmed the news yet.
The film is supposed to have a lot of action scenes, sounds and VFX, which will compete with international films in terms of scale and budget.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, many film producers are in talks with OTT platforms to release their films. Hence, Netflix has shown interest in acquiring the film for their site, keeping the world audience in mind. The strategy of releasing the film on Netflix will boost the business of the film and it will also reach a larger, world audience.
The maker of films like Laxmi Bomb (Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani), Ludo (Aditya Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra), Shakuntala Devi (Vidya Balan), Gulabo Sitabo (Amitabh Bachchan, Ayushmaam Khurana) etc. are alsi opting for an online release.
