Mumbai: IIT Baba, who went viral and became an overnight sensation during Mahakumbh Mela, is the most hated person in India right now.
The man whose real name is Abhey Singh had confidently predicted that India would lose their Champions Trophy clash against arch-rivals Pakistan at Dubai on Sunday.
He even dared Virat Kohli and others to prove him wrong and show how they could win.
“Main tumko pehle se bol raha hu, is baar India nahi jeetegi. Jo Jo hain, Virat Kohli… sabko bol do ki aaj jitke dikhaye. Ab maine mana kar diya hai ke nahi jeetegi to nahi jeetegi. Ab kya, bhagwaan bade hain ya tum bade ho? (I’m telling you in advance, this time India won’t win. Whoever it is, Virat Kohli… and others, tell them to win today if they can. Now that I have said they won’t win, they won’t. So what now? Is God greater, or are you?)” IIT Baba was seen claiming in a viral video clip before the high-octane match.
Not many reacted initially, as they kept their fingers crossed.
But once India thumped Pakistan by 6 wickets with 45 balls to spare on Sunday night, thanks to a superb unbeaten 100 by Kohli, netizens pounced on IIT Baba and hounded the IIT Bombay degree-holder who was once an aerospace engineer with a high-paying job in Canada before renouncing his career to embrace a spiritual path.
Social media erupted with trolls and memes after Abhey’s bold prediction completely backfired.
#IITianBaba started trending, and it continues almost 20 hours after the match ended, with X users flooding the platform with angry, sarcastic posts.
Sharing the video of IIT Baba’s prediction, one user wrote, “Guys we need to catch this #IITianBaba alive and then kick him out of India.”
Another troll read: “Moral of the story: Don’t believe in predictions.”
“Now IITan Baba will be trolled more than Pakistanis,” commented one person.
“Let’s catch that IITian Baba now.. Bahot bkwas karta hai.. Jahan mile ye wahi peL do isko,” fumed another user.
