Bhubaneswar: Amid the rising number of cyber fraud cases across the state, Odisha police on Thursday shared a few safety tips for citizens to protect themselves from online scams.
“Never enter the UPI PIN to receive money,” the Odisha Police said in its tweet while sharing the ‘UPI safety shied’. Citizens have also been advised to remember the safety shied while making UPI payments.
Here are the UPI safety tips by Odisha police:
“Never share your OTP, UPI PIN, URN, CVV, or passwords with anyone, even if the person claims to be a bank employee,” the post added.
It is pertinent to mention here that DCP (Bhubaneswar) Prateek Singh had also advised people on September 21 to be cautious while shopping online during the upcoming festive season and not to fall prey to cyber fraud.
“With the festive season ahead, cyber frauds will try to trick you by offering lucrative schemes and rewards like increasing limit in credit cards, gift coupons, lottery, etc. Please do not believe such offers and do not click on any links or share OTP with anybody,” he said.
“If such a thing happens and you are cheated, then please call the cyber helpline number of Bhubaneswar police, 7440006709 immediately,” he added.
