Majhi’s wife Priyanka Marandi told media she was expecting him to get a ministerial berth as he had been serving as party’s chief whip in the Assembly but had never thought he would be the Chief Minister. She said it was because of blessings of Lord Jagannath and now that he has such a big responsibility, he has to work ten times more.
His son Krishna, a class VIII student of Kendriya Vidyalaya said he was equally surprised. Nonetheless, Majhi’s wife, children, and his mother Bale Majhi are very happy. The four-time MLA’s mother said she is happy that his son came forward to serve people when he was a youth and would now be the Chief Minister after serving as a Sarpanch and MLA.
Both his government quarter in Bhubaneswar and humble abode in Raikala village of Odisha’s Keonjhar have been witnessing many visitors since the announcement of his candidature for the Odisha CM’s post on Tuesday evening while congratulatory messages are still pouring in from near and dear ones.
People of Raikala village where Majhi has a small asbestos house that also serves as his office are celebrating and are extremely happy with the party’s choice. They are upbeat that Majhi, a humble person that he has always been, will work for the good of people and state.
