Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will announce its new team of office bearers in Odisha unit only after the election of the party’s national president.
Sharing this information in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, state BJP president Manmohan Samal told reporters that appointment to various organisational posts would be made once the national president of the party is elected.
He said the organisational process is in line with the party’s constitutional framework, and no decision on the state team will be taken until the national leadership is finalised.
Describing it as a constitutional practice in the party, the state BJP chief said soon after the election of the national president, the state-level appointments and team formation will follow,” Samal said.
To a question about the party’s national president’s election, the veteran BJP leader said no specific deadline has so far been set for this purpose.
Regarding appointments to various state-run corporations and boards, Samal said the party would hold internal discussions before arriving at a decision. He assured that due consideration would be given to organizational roles and responsibilities.
The statement comes amid growing speculation about the restructuring of the Odisha BJP unit following the party’s recent electoral performance. While Samal was once again elected as the state unit president, new office bearers are yet to be announced.
