Bhubaneswar: The Capital City on Sunday witnessed a drop in daily COVID cases which were on a steady rise for the last three days.
Total 227 persons tested positive for the disease in the last 24 hours compared to 307 patients on Saturday, 292 on Friday and 272 cases on Thursday.
Of the new cases, 41 were from quarantine and 186 were local contacts, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated in a tweet.
Among the local contacts, maximum 12 cases were detected in Khandagiri, followed by 10 in Nayapalli and 9 in Chandrasekharpur.
While 196 patients recovered during the period, the number of the deceased has gone up to 971.
The city now has 3,077 active cases and total positive cases have gone up to 10,3,849 the BMC stated.
