The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which was postponed following concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, will held next summer from July 23, 2021, to August 8, 2021.
Similarly, the Paralympics will be held from August 24 to September 5, 2021.
“The schedule for the games is key to preparing for the games,” Tokyo organizing committee president Yoshiro Mori said. “This will only accelerate our progress.”
Last week, Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and the International Olympic Committee had agreed to reschedule the Olympics, which was slated to be held between July 24 and August 9 this year, as the killer virus forced the world to go for a lockdown to contain its spread.
The pandemic has infected over 7.35 lakh people and killed at least 34,000, globally.
