Rourkela: A new facility for coal screening and handling for loading of hard coke was inaugurated at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP).
Ram Narayan Nayak, CGM, In-charge (Maintenance) inaugurated a Modified and Relocated Tail End Pulley System of Capstan Winch (Expansion) in the Coke Screening and Handling Section of Coke Ovens in the plant.
Capstan winch is used in coal screening and handling (expansion) for loading of hard coke, nut coke and breeze coke in various wagons. It plays a vital role in day to day running of Coke Screening Section. The tail end pulley system of Capstan winch was located in a pit and was far away from drive side. Due to water and fine breeze accumulation in the pit, the rope was getting damaged frequently.
The new facility is expected to improve the techno-economic parameters leading to a saving of about Rs. 10 lakh per annum.
