New Delhi: Maruti has launched the new generation of its Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) Ertiga.
The starting price of the new car, which is bigger and longer, is Rs 7,44,000 for the petrol variant, Rs 1.1 lakh more than the older one. The price of diesel variant starts at Rs 8,84,000 and the petrol automatic, Rs 9,18,000. All the prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
The new car is 130mm longer, 40mm wider and 5mm taller. It has 50 per cent more luggage space. The bigger stance makes it a competitor of Mahindra Marazzo and Renault Lodgy.
The new Ertiga gets a new 1.5 litre K15 petrol engine that produces 103 bhp power and 138 Nm torque. The petrol comes with an optional automatic gearbox. The diesel variant has the same 1.3-litre DDIS 200 engine that makes 89 bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque.
Both the petrol and diesel variants get the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle System) mild hybrid systems that has a two-battery system for better fuel economy. The ARAI rated fuel efficiency numbers are 19.34 kmpl for the petrol manual, 18.69 kmpl for the petrol automatic, and 25.47 kmpl for the diesel variant.
Equipment wise, like other modern Marutis, the new Ertiga gets rear parking sensors, camera, Android Auto/Apple Carplay, push-button start, auto climate control, dual airbags (std on all variants), touchscreen infotainment system and adjustable seat height.
