Balasore: A Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) train will run from Goinathpur railway station in Nilagiri to Balasore in Odisha soon.
Speaking to media persons on Thursday, Anil Kumar Mishra, Regional Manager, South Eastern Railway (SER), said the rakes of the MEMU train have already arrived. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will inaugurate the new train after the Ministry decides the date. He hoped that the date will be finalised within 10-15 days.
Mishra said after Bahanaga train tragedy, it has been decided to change the signal system of all old stations under SER division. It will be taken up after modernisation work of the stations, he added.
He further said a list of railway stations from Ranital in Bhadrak district to Balasore has been prepared for the modernisation work. At the same time, the work on third track could not be taken up due to hike in the royalty by the state government, he added.
