Bhubaneswar: Keeping with the smart city tag, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning a swanky office at Janpath here.
On Wednesday, BMC Commissioner Krishan Kumar presented the architectural design of the 12-storey ultra-modern building before Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. While construction work will start in January next year, the office will be commissioned in two and half years, Kumar said.
“This iconic building is envisaged to be a smart office incorporating intelligent operations and management centre which will be the cornerstone of the transformation of Bhubaneswar,” the CM wrote on Facebook after attending the presentation.
Apart from the civic body office, Intelligent City and Operation Management Centre will also function from the building.
BMC sources said 4 acre of land has been identified at Unit-9 and the building will come up on 2.5 acre. The first floor will house the mayor’s office, 2nd floor that of commissioner and deputy commissioner’s, 3rd and 4th for Intelligent City and Operation Management Centre, 5th and 6th for BMC office and 7th and 8th for all offices of Smart City Bhubaneswar. Rest floors will be left for future expansions.
The building will have four lifts, the sources added.
