Bhubaneswar: A 200-seat public auditorium was inaugurated recently at the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre in the city.
The auditorium has green rooms, a VIP lounge, a guest room, a generator and an open-air cafeteria. There also is lighting system including dramatic and spot lights. A leading brand has installed a digital sound system adding an extra charm to the auditorium.
Head of the institution Sangita Gosain said the auditorium will attract more people to attend the centre’s cultural programmes. “The ambience of the auditorium is very soothing. Special care has been taken to build the stage,” she said.
The auditorium is located on the main road at Jaydev Vihar. “The location will make it easier for the audience to spot it as this is the only public auditorium in the area,” she added.
There are ample parking facilities for two and four-wheelers.
An Odissi dancer said there is a lack of public auditorium in the city and they have been facing a lot of difficulties while organizing events. “Most of the halls are booked by big organizations. This one will help us a great deal,” she said.
There are three major auditoriums in the city at present- Jaydev Bhawan, Rabindra Mandap and Bhanja Kala Mandap.
