Mumbai: A new promotional video of Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana: Rise Of A Legend’ offers a fresh glimpse into the epic’s grand scale, featuring Sai Pallavi as Sita battling demons in a fierce warrior avatar.
The footage also features Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, standing atop a mountain as the sun rises, and Yash as Ravana, performing the tandav before a massive statue of Lord Shiva.
Producer Namit Malhotra, who appears alongside Ranbir and Tiwari in the video, reveals that more than 10,000 people from across the world are working on the ambitious project, which is slated for a theatrical release this Diwali.
The video also offers a brief glimpse of Kunal Kapoor as Indra, wielding his mighty thunderbolt, Vajra.
It further shows Ram and Ravana overcoming obstacles on their respective journeys, each driven by a different purpose.
“A LIFE SIZED EPIC. Sit down with Namit Malhotra, Nitesh Tiwari, and Ranbir Kapoor as they discuss bringing RAMAYANA: RISE OF A LEGEND to the big screen,” the makers captioned the video.
The promotional video opens with Ranbir reflecting on bringing the epic to the big screen, saying, “Ramayana. Let’s see it in the best way possible.”
Namit describes the film as “a life-sized epic” with “so much depth of character, emotion, spectacle”, adding that there is something in it for everyone.
Tiwari highlights the story’s universal appeal, saying, “People from around the world would be able to connect with it. There’s a great father-son story. There’s a great underdog story. A very brave love story.”
“When the opportunity of Ramayana came along, it was something that I felt we had to do. Some films don’t get made, they happen,” Namit says.
Ranbir also praises the scale of the production and the team assembled for the project.
“The kind of cast, crew that Namit put together. The kind of opportunity that you gave us, the scale that you gave us, creative people, that’s really rare in this industry,” the actor says.
Giving an idea of the production’s scale, Namit adds, “Just to give people a sense of numbers, we have over 10,000 people on this film worldwide.”
The film’s music has been composed by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman. Reportedly mounted on a budget of ₹4,000 crore, ‘Ramayana: Rise Of A Legend’ will be released in two parts.
The first instalment is scheduled to hit theatres on November 5, while the second is slated for Diwali 2027.
