Bhubaneswar: Eminent neurosurgeon and former director of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar Ashok Kumar Mahapatra on Wednesday urged the Odisha government to formulate new strategies to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the twin cities.
Talking to the media, he said that COVID-19 cases in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have assumed alarming proportions. “The state government has to formulate new strategies else the situation will go out of control in the coming days,” he added.
Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have 5896 and 1930 active cases respectively.
Maintaining that vegetable markets, fish markets and liquor shops contribute to the spread of the virus, he said that there should be more restrictions at these places and the authorities concerned should ensure proper implementation of the COVID norms.
