Bhubaneswar: The Supplementary Nutrition Menu (SNM) has been revised with additional nutrition food stuff.
Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi informed collectors and District Social Welfare Officers through video conferencing on Friday.
Padhi directed the collectors to keep strict vigil on quality and quantity of the nutritious food stuff supplied to various categories of women and children.
He further directed for implementation of the revised menu with regular supply of the items at all anganwadi centres (AWCs) from July 15.
Secretary Women and Child Development Anu Garg said that the menu has been revised as per the revised cost of Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) per head. She clarified that hot cooked meal served in AWCs to the children between the age group of three and six should have at least five eggs per week per child.
As per the new menu, on Monday and Thursday, rice, dalma with vegetables, lemon will be included in menu. On Tuesday, rice, boiled egg, vegetable curry and lemon will be provided.
Rice, egg curry and lemon will be given on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday.
In addition to this the new menu, morning snacks at AWCs include ragi and besan ladoo on Monday and Thursday, groundnut and chuda ladoo on Tuesday and Thursday and sprouted moong with jageery or seasonal fruits on Wednesday and Saturday.
Take Home Ration (THR) for children in the age group of six months to three years have been revised to 12 eggs, 1.5 kgs of dry ration consisting of Suji/Ragi/Maize/Besan/Sugar and 2.45 kg of Chhatua per month.
Similarly, THR for women and nursing mother per month has been revised to 12 eggs, Chikki or ladoo made of groundnut/rasi/jiggery (each piece 24.4 gm weight) 25 pieces and Chhatua 4.9 kgs.
The adolescent girls in the age group of 11-14 will get 16 eggs, 4 kgs of chhatua and 25 pieces of ladoo.
The revised menu for severely underweight children in age group of six months to three years includes 12 eggs along with 83 pieces of ladu and 4.9 kgs of chhatua.
THR for severely underweight children in three to six years includes hot cooked meals and morning snacks at AWC daily along with additional 1.8 kgs of chhtua and 42 pieces of ladu as THR per month.
Garg made it clear to the officials that the dry ration and Chhatua THR should be supplied once in each month and boiled eggs each week.
Padhi further directed the collectors to organise district and block level sensitisation camps of the ICDS personnel, THR manufacturing SHGs, Anganwadi workers, members of the mothers’ and janch committees.
The chief secretary also stressed timely release of funds to the AWCs for morning snacks, hot cooked meal and eggs.
Earlier, per head SNP cost was enhanced to Rs 8, Rs 9.50, Rs 12.00 and Rs 9.50 for children from six months to six years, pregnant and nursing mothers, severely mal nourished children and adolescent girls respectively. Around 46.29 lakh children and pregnant mother and 55,568 adolescent girls will be benefit from this new menu with enhanced cost.
