New Delhi: Automobile companies carry out service recalls to rectify potential problems that are discovered in existing products. Maruti Suzuki has announced that a total of 52,685 units of the new Swift and Baleno will be recalled.
The models manufactured between 1st December 2017 and 16th March 2018 are affected. These cars are expected to have a fault in the brake vacuum hose.
The owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted by dealers for inspection from May 14, 2018, onwards. It is expected that the faulty part will be replaced.
Like other service recalls, this will be done free of cost.
In May 2016, Maruti Suzuki had recalled around 75K units of the Baleno for an airbag issue. Recently, BMW has recalled a few models of Mini, Rolls Royce and BMW over a potential fire risk. Last year in June, Ford India had recalled around 39K units of Figo and Fiesta Classic over a potentially faulty power steering hose and earlier this year in January, Honda had recalled 510 units of Accord, 22,084 units of City and 240 units of Jazz over an airbag inflator issue.
