Bhubaneswar: Tata Motors on Tuesday launched the new updated Tigor Electric Vehicle (EV) in India. This version is based on Ziptron technology, the one on which the Nexon EV is made.
The earlier Tigor EV had a limited range and was available only for government and commercial operators.
The new Tigor EV is priced in Bhubaneswar (ex-showroom) as follows:
XE – ₹11,99,000
XM – ₹12,49,000
XZ+ – ₹12,99,000
XZ+ dual-tone – ₹13,14,000
The Tigor EV is hence ₹2 lakhs cheaper than the Nexon EV.
The Tigor EV has a power output of 55 kW and a peak torque of 170 Nm. It does 0 to 60 kmph in 5.7 seconds.
The EV has an ARAI certified range of 306 kms under standard testing conditions. Expect the real-world range to be lower. The battery is a 26 kWh lithium-ion and has an IP67 certification for water and dust resistance. It is also impact resistant. In comparison, the Nexon EV battery pack is 30 kWh.
The warranty is 8 years and 1,60,000 km on the battery.
There is a CCS2 fast charging slot that can charge the car from 0 to 80 per cent in an hour.
Like the petrol variant, the Tigor EV gets 4 stars on NCAP crash testing. It has two airbags.
In terms of gadgets, there is a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, iRA connected car tech, automatic climate control, 4 speakers with 4 twitters, projector lamps, rear parking sensors and camera.
