Bhubaneswar: WhatsApp has a new update, “My contacts except…”, which allows users to hide their ‘profile photos,’ ‘last seen,’ and ‘about’ information from specific people in their contact lists.
While the work on a new privacy setting began last year, the company recently announced that it will finally be released for all its users worldwide on iPhone and Android devices. Until now, one could choose between showing your profile picture, last seen details and status updates to everyone, all your contacts or nobody at all.
To hide your profile photo, last seen and About info from particular people, all you need to do is go to the Settings> Account> Privacy menu on iPhone and Android devices and pick the option to bar a few pre-selected ones from seeing these elements despite being contacts.
WhatsApp also introduced some group calling features, which would allow users to mute others during a group call and send messages to specific people. One can also see a banner when someone joins a group call off-screen.
